Welcome

An artist-led ecosystem

Found Sound Commons is a learning ecosystem for musicians, soundmakers, and creative thinkers at every stage of their practice. The commons is a global community grounded in the belief that transformative learning should be accessible to all.

A space where mentorship, collaboration, and community reinforce one another, and where deep listening, exchange, and creative thinking unfold across borders and backgrounds.

Origin

Fifteen years of artists finding each other

The Commons grows out of fifteen years of work by Found Sound Nation, bringing musicians together across borders, languages, and traditions through residencies, collaborations, and creative exchange.

Across this work, a consistent pattern emerged: the most meaningful learning happens between practitioners, not just from instructor to student.

What began as time-bound projects and gatherings revealed a deeper need for continuity, accessibility, and a space where those relationships could evolve over time.

What we believe

How learning happens matters

We are not a content library. We are a space for exchange, dialogue, and collective practice.

Every offering is artist-led, created by working composers, producers, field recordists, sound artists, and educators engaged in the same practice they teach.

Grounded in equity, the Commons supports artists across geographies and backgrounds to learn side by side, on equal footing.

Inside The Commons

Come to learn. Stay for the community.
